Beetroot must not be grown in freshly
manured soil as this produces misshapen roots.
It follows cabbage in the rotation. Sow seeds in
May/June in shallow drills, 12" apart, 1" deep.
Will benefit from a super phosphate fertiliser.

while roots are still tender. Test by cutting in
half, the texture should be even with no rings.
Try them boiled, hollowed out then filled with
chopped green onion, cheese and egg.
